the Chronicles of Narnia

According to what’s on netflixNetflix courts Greta Gerwig (Barbie) to direct “the first two films in his upcoming reboot of the Chronicles of Narnia as a movie and television streaming franchise.”

constantine 2

During a recent interview with the envelopedirector Francis Lawrence said he hopes to make his constantine sequel an “actual R-rated movie” instead of the “R-rated movie that’s really a PG-13 movie” he felt the first movie was.

One of the biggest things for me about the first one was that we followed, according to Warner Bros., the rules for making a PG-13 movie in terms of violence, gore, language, sexuality. But the ratings board gave us a hard R based on its gray zone of intensity. And my biggest regret is that we have an R-rated movie that’s actually a PG-13 movie. And if I had to go for an R, I would have really made an R-rated movie. I would have made it a lot scarier and a lot more violent and I would have really made an R-rated movie.

The idea is this time, at least for me, is to really try and make an actual R-rated Constantine that is, I think, what people always wanted originally, not the PG-13 version that just gets an R.

Ray

Meanwhile, David Harbor described his Thunderbolts team as “losers” in a recent interview with ComicBook.

We’re like losers, which I like (laughs). We are the losers. I think it’s fun to watch us screw everything up. It is fun; there’s a lot of pathos in that too. There is a lot of drama in a group of people who keep getting caught up in their lives and due to character flaws, keep messing things up.

Strange things

Talking with Variety, Ross Duffer declared the final season of Strange things will be “sort of [same] tone” as the first season.

[Season 5], the way we see it, is sort of the culmination of all the seasons, so it has a little bit of each. Whereas before every season was so clearly… [Season] 3 is our big summer blockbuster season with big monsters, and [Season] 4 was psychological terror. I think what we’re trying to do is go back a little bit to the beginning, in a kind of 1 tone.

welcome to derry

Also in conversation with VarietyHBO Max Head of Originals Sarah Aubrey described the upcoming It’s prequel series as “insane”.

We have been working very closely with Jason Fuchs, Brad Caleb Kane, Andy Muschietti and Barbara Muschietti. They’re so into this mythology and have a very firm handle on the storytelling of these characters and also the insane scares that they’re putting on things. Sometimes I’m like, ‘What’s wrong with you?’ Just all the wild ways they come up with to terrify us. You will be hearing more concretely about that development very soon. Andy is heavily involved in all of this, so that’s the real recipe for success and delighting fans.
